WOW! What a weekend. Hailey had another dance competition this weekend in Minneapolis MN. Since the kids have never been to the Mall of America we decided to make a mini vacation out of it.
We left here bright and early with plenty of snacks and DVD's packed and ready for a long drive. all I have to say is THANK GOODNESS for DVD players in the van!! It was so nice to be able to actually talk to Joe during the drive instead of breaking up fights and answering for the millionth time "are we there yet?" We stopped in Owatana (sp?) at the cabelas. It was awesome the kids loved all the animals and we all needed to get up and move around for a while.
Once we arrived in Minneapolis we decided the instead of going to the hotel and check in we would hit the mall first. The kids were AMAZED at the size of the mall and lego land and the amusement park and hailey's dream store The American Girl Store. Joe and I were able to convince them to actually walk around the mall before we went to the amusement park. We shopped and shopped and rode rides and walked out hours later with two exhausted kids and some pretty cool legos sets and a new member of the family Sadie - hailey's very first American Girl Doll.
Saturday morning 6 AM - Rise and shine!! Hailey danced bright and early Saturday morning she had to be ready to check in at 7AM. First dance at 830ish. They did a great job! I am so proud of my tiny dancer. next dance at 1130ish. They did great again!! Such talanted little girls. Now on to awards!! awards was at 130. the girls did great.......now we have a 5 hour break. The girls "rested" or played with their dolls how ever you want to say it. we had dinner and then got ready for production.
We checked hailey in around 730 for a 930 dance. Producton went great! High gold, first in catagory and 4th over all. Great job!! finally at 1130 its bed time.
Sunday morning we tried to sleep in. no such luck. 745 and we are all awake and moving. Since we have had cold cereal and poptarts all weekend it was time for a nice hot breakfast. the resturant in the hotel had a nice buffet and we all stuffed our selves silly. once breakfast was over it was time to check out and hit the road.
OR.... go back to the mall! I made an executive decision that our mini vacation was not over and we went and did a little more shopping!! i think it was 130 when we finally got on the road to come home.
Finally home!!! around 430 we arrived home to a pretty icky rain storm which meant No soccer! time to relax...wrong! laundry and preparing for the week ahead. No rest for the wicked I guess...
