Well here goes nothing. I have decided to make a blog to allow all of our friends and family to follow us through the next year and a half while we are preparing for and surviving through our families 3rd deployment. Hopefully this will allow everyone to take a peak into our busy crazy wonderful life.

I need a hobby
One thing I have learned from surviving several deployments is that when Joe is away for long periods of time I do not sleep very much. Now anyone out there who really knows me well knows that this is a very bad thing for me. I LOVE SLEEP! I love my bed and my pillows and the sound my fan makes but while he is gone sleeping is just something that doesn't happen. Its not worry I don't think because really the only time I worry is when he is flying (crazy I know) I just can seem to shut off my mind to fall asleep. I think it may be that I have to remember everything for all of us here at home and I'm afraid i will forget something. But anyway since I'm up at odd hours when the rest of the world is sound asleep I need a hobby. It needs to be something kinda quiet since I don't want to wake the kids but I can't seem to come up with anything just yet. A girl can only play around on facebook for so long before your eyes want to pop out of your head. I am open to ideas and if anyone suggests going for a run at 3 AM they may get beat....

What about sewing? Or scrapbooking?
ReplyDeleteSomething with your hands. Knitting or something. You are good with your photo edits, maybe more of that?
ReplyDeleteSomething that helps me let my mind go blank is that I keep a planner and write everything down regarding appts and things I need to do. I know it's kind of old fashion with all of our techno gadgets, etc but it helps me. Just a thought.
I second the knitting. I started last winter and it was really cool until other little fingers got in the way. If you want a Grandma to teach you, I know one who would love to help you out. she has a knitting club twice a week. She is really good, patience and available.
ReplyDeleteWrite in a journal, make jewelry, scrapbooking and knitting or crochet are also a good way to make christmas scarfs.
